JoSH's birth story in Busan (4-end)

Thanking God for JoSH

"Dita, this is for your baby!"

Kejadian berikutnya aku mulai kurang tahu detil kejadiannya.

JoSH's birth story in Busan (3)

Normal or C-Section?

Cerita ini lanjutan dari:
JoSH' birth story in Busan (1) dan JoSH' birth story in Busan (2).

Aku berjalan pelan-pelan menuju pertigaan jalan.

Akhirnya kami mendapat taksi.

[Korea] Happy Dongji - Winter Solstice

Dongji is the day in winter that marks the shortest day in a year, which means that it is the longest distance of earth from the sun. So, the day is the shortest, and the night is the longest.

Korean people celebrate Dongji with preparing Red Bean Gruel or Patjuk. (Pat: red bean; juk:porridge).

I knew that today is Dongji from Korean Travel Organization's page in Facebook. Today is my brother's birthday and also Mother Day in Indonesia.

San came home and told me that he ate a Korean food he never ate before. He said that it has glutinous ball in it and the texture is sticky. Because I have read about Dongji in the afternoon, I quickly asked him further question to check if what he ate is Patjuk.

Happy Dongji to all of Korean people. Korean has a very unique meaning and interpretation about Dongji, the shortest day, which means that it means a year has passed or an increasing in age.

[Korea] Haedong Yonggungsa Temple - Our pictures

We visited this temple last year. I have visited many temples in Korea and this one is very beautiful and unique since it is located facing the sea. The scenery from the temple was so wonderful. The size of the temple is also very big.

This was San in the main gate going to go the temple. You can see 12 statues based on Chinese horoscope.

The distance from the gate to the temple was quite far but it was nice since we had to walk through many stairs, small gates, seeing scenery from the stairs to the sea...We took many pictures even before we arrived in the main place.

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is situated on the coast of the north-eastern portion of Busan. This superb find of a tourist spot and temple offers visitors the rare find of a temple along the shore line. Most temples in Korea are located in the mountains. Haedong Yonggungsa Temple was first built in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty. During the reign of Uwang, the great Buddhist teacher known as Naong established this temple beside the sea. Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (Seawater Great Goddess Buddha), Daeungjeon Main Sanctuary, Yongwangdang Shrine, Gulbeop Buddhist Sanctum (enclosed in a cave), and a three-story pagoda with four lions can all be seen looking out over the ocean.

The main sanctuary of the temple was reconstructed in 1970 with careful attention paid to the colors that were traditionally used in such structures. On the right-hand side, inside the a cave, is a uniquely designed Buddhist sanctum, while situated just in front of the main sanctuary is a three-story pagoda with four lions. The four lions are symbolizing joy anger, sadness, and happiness. Other special sites at the temple are the 108 stairs and stone lanterns lining the rocky landscape. After going down the 108 steps, one will be delighted with the beauty of the temple. Midway down the 108 steps one can stop and enjoy the calming sounds of the waves as well view the majestic sunrise. Many people often come to this spot on New Year's Day to make a wish for the new year as they watch the sun come up. April is an especially beautiful time of year with cherry blossoms in full bloom. The birth of Buddha is also celebrated in April (following the lunar calendar) and offers a spectacular night view as the temple area is aglow with electrically lit lanterns. Korean Food - Jokbal

After visiting Sajik Stadium, we went to Nampodong, Jeokbal-gil (Jeokbal street) where you can find  many Jeokbal restaurants in the street. Jeokbal is a food name.We went to the famous one, and have to wait for a while because of full seats.

The dish as usual came with many side dishes. All are delicious! Especially the Jeokbal. It has sweet, spicy, savoury taste. The spicy taste was mostly came from wasabi.

Diyas & I, with my tired face...^^

[Korea] Sajik Stadium - Lotte Giants!

Here we were at Sajik Baseball Stadium, the home of the Lotte Giants !

Sajik Stadium is built in 1985, holds 28,500 people.
Since Sajik Stadium is located in Busan, which is in the coast and the south part of South Korean, the temperature is usually cooler than other parts of the country.

Diyas was right in visiting Busan and Sajik Stadium while he was in Korea, since the game of Lotte Giants is always an interesting one. You can feel the energy of Lotte Giants fans while cheering their team.

On my first time seeing Baseball game, it's a match between Lotte Giants and Samsung. I was surprised to see how people supported Lotte Giants. They came to the stadium with Giant's uniforms, brought many attributes, flag, etc. I could feel their passion for Lotte Giants!

Before entering the stadium seat area, we walked along the corridor full of food stands. There were fried or roasted chicken, any kinds of drinks, kimbab, and many more Korean snacks were offered.

We chose this one. It is squid snack. The smell was totally attractive...I could not stand anymore not to buy.

The crispy squid snack...yummy...

Near to the end of the game, the orange Lotte Giants' plastic bags were distibuted. It was meant for keeping the trash, so that the stadium would stay clean. Everyone who needs a plastic bag can take it. But, aparently, even though they don not need it, they will take one plastic, to cheer the Giants! Just like me ^^

What a perfect day!
(It was so windy at that day so I lend Diyas my pink scarf...hehe. Pink scarf for pinky boy ^^)

Korean Name Stamp

We were at a stamps shop in Seomyeon.
I ordered two name stamps that were written in Korean for my friend and her husband for their wedding gift.
It turned out very well and unique.
I had to checked their names' prononciation before changed it to Korean hangeul. ^^

[Korea] Sajik Stadium, Lotte Giants Museum & Shop

In front of Sajik Stadium, Busan
It was in 2010 when Diyas and I visited Sajik Stadium to see a baseball match between Lotte Giants & Hanhwa. Lotte Giants is a baseball team based in Busan, while Hanhwa is a team based in Daejeon. It was interesting for us since Diyas was studying in Daejeon at that time. So we asked him, which team he preferred to cheer up? Giants or Hanhwa? :)

If you want to read more abour Lotte Giants, here is their official website, but it is in Korean.
http://www.giantsclub.com/

This was the picture of Lotte Giants' manager, Jerry Royster. Apparently on October 13, 2010, the Lotte Giants decided not to renew Royster's contract following the Giant's defeat by the Doosan Bears in the first round of the KBO playoffs (Wikipedia).

Lotte Giants is the hero of people in Busan. Whenever I asked elementary or middle school students which team they love, mostly the answer is Lotte Giants. I think since I live in Busan, by no reason I also became Giants' fan.

The building behind San & Diyas is the lobby where Lotte Giants' players come and take a rest. Nobody except the players and official staffs could enter the room.

We were in front of Lee Dae Ho picture. Lee Dae-Ho (이대호) moved to Japan after playing for the Lotte Giants in Korea Professional Baseball for 11 seasons from 2001 to 2011. He hit home runs in nine consecutive games for the first time in world baseball history.According to a Gallup Korea's survey conducted in 2011, Lee was chosen as the most popular player in the KBO league. (Wikipedia)

LeeDae Ho is a very famous player since he often hit home runs in games.

While waiting for the game, we decided to take a look the Giants museum and shop. Please enjoy the pictures. The things exhibited in the museum are so many, I couldn't take picture one by one. It was worth to visit.

San wanted to buy the Giants' uniform but the price was too high for him to afford. The quality is good, though.

And, someday I wanted to visit the shop again with Joshua and buy this kid baseball stick for him. The stick is light and soft so it is safe for kids to play with. Same as the ball. :)
